About me

I am a consultant colorectal and pelvic floor surgeon at St Mark's Hospital in London. This is the only specialist bowel hospital in the UK.

I have a specialist interest in pelvic floor disorders, stoma, abdominal wall hernia, proctology , inflammatory bowel disease, pilonidal disease and other areas of benign colorectal pathology.

I qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine (St Mary’s Hospital) in 2003 with distinction in surgery and a BSc from Imperial College, London. My basic surgery training was undertaken in the northwest London region with further specialist training in southwest London, Surrey and at St Mark’s Hospital.

During my training, I undertook two years of research into pelvic floor disorders at St Mark’s Hospital and was awarded an MD (Res) higher research degree from Imperial College, London.

I have maintained a strong research interest in this field. I have published over 50 peer reviewed papers and many text book chapters on pelvic floor and colorectal disorders. I have presented widely on these subjects at national and international meetings.

I was awarded travelling fellowships from the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland in 2016 and from the European Society of Coloproctology in 2018. I have spent time at the Cleveland Clinic Hospitals in Florida and Ohio USA, and at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nantes France.

I was awarded the FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2016.

I am a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, the European Society of Coloproctology and The UK Pelvic Floor Society.
